“Developing our infrastructure is integral to support growth in the UK export market.”
Phil Couchman
CEO, DHL Express UK & Ireland
DHL Express has been in the UK since 1974. Over these 40 years we’ve established an unparalleled logistics network to help businesses trade internationally – regardless of whether they’re large global players or smaller companies just starting out.
Around the world, demand for goods made, assembled or designed in Britain continues to grow. To help our customers meet demand and provide the highest standard of service, we are expanding our network and increasing capacity for express shipments from DHL sites across the country: DHL is investing £156 million into further developing our UK infrastructure between now and 2016.
The news has been welcomed by the private and public sector alike – George Osborne, Chancellor of the Exchequer, announced he was ‘delighted that DHL is continuing to invest in the UK, supporting the growing number of British businesses selling their products abroad’.
"This investment in the UK forms
a key part of DHL’s global growth
and service improvement strategy."
Ken Allen, Global CEO of DHL Express
£90 million investment at our East Midlands Airport hub will see an expansion of our current site to provide a state of the art facility with increased capabilities, which will support the growing requirements of UK businesses shipping internationally.
This purpose built site will provide DHL Express with a brand new head office and fully automated sorting centre. The new building has been designed specifically for our requirements and will provide significant additional capacity that will allow for greater volume and continued growth.
A new purpose built site at Manchester Airport will see significant improvements for customers across the region.
