Export to Malaysia

Strong GDP growth since the 1970s has transformed Malaysia into a middle-income country with a focus on exporting. By 2020, Malaysia aims to be a high-income developed nation. To achieve this goal, the country is expanding its technology, biotechnology and services sectors – especially in Islamic finance products.

Malaysia is the EU’s most important trading partner in the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) and EU-Malaysia trade in goods reached €31.9 billion in 2010. As a result of a February 2014 Enterprise Ireland trade mission to Malaysia and Singapore, €25 million of contracts were signed across the financial services, ICT and education sectors.
